YOUNGSTERS aspiring to become the next Andy Murray or adults looking to give tennis a go will have the chance to play for free in Bromsgrove today (Saturday).

Bromsgrove Tennis Club will be offering free play and coaching between 12pm and 4pm as part of the Lawn Tennis Association’s Great British Tennis Weekend scheme.

Players aged between four and over 80 are being encouraged to come to the club where qualified coaches will be on hand to pass on tips. They will also provide racquets and balls.

Head coach James Griffiths said “We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone. We have a friendly reputation and cater for all abilities from absolute beginner to top county players so come on down to our club in Aston Fields.

“Any parents who want to bring their children but not take part are welcome.”

The club, which shares a clubhouse, bar and grounds with Bromsgrove Cricket and Hockey Clubs, is located in St Godwalds Road, and has eight floodlit courts and a practice area.

Recent highlights include the junior section having the best results of any club at the County Championships and this winter all six of the Ladies teams achieved promotion with the A Team staying in the top division.
