WYCHBOLD Swan Rescue swung into action to save two geese and their seven goslings after they were sent packing from Batchley Pool in Redditch by an angry swan.
The swan had flown in from Brockhill on Sunday and took an instant dislike to the geese who were already at the pool.
To escape, the geese and their young family set off walking down Batchley Road where luckily they seen by Jake Bryant who keeps an eye on the pool.
He alerted Wychbold Swan Rescue and within moments John Stewart was driving to the rescue.
“They were just walking down the road when I arrived,” said John.
“I ushered them on to the grass and luckily this couple in a car coming the other way got out to help.
“It was something of a nightmare with all the cars passing but I always have a carrier bag handy and we started putting the goslings into the bag.”
With the family safely intact they were led back to the top pool at Batchley were they were safely released away from the swan.
“They’re out of the way up there and when the swan flies back to Brockhill they’ll be fine,” said John.
“I’d also like to say a personal thank you to the couple who stopped and helped us out – it would have been well nigh impossible to do without them.
“Luckily we managed to save the situation before they reached the main road.”
