A WOMAN in her 60s has died after a crash on the M5 between Droitwich and Worcester this afternoon.

It happened around 1.30pm between Junction 5 (Wychbold) and 6 (Worcester) and involved two vans and a lorry.

Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham were sent to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said crews arrived at the scene to find the driver of one of the vehicles in a critical condition after coming into collision with an HGV.

They worked quickly to administer advanced trauma care but, despite their best efforts, nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene.

The M5 southbound was closed between Junctions 5 and 6 while the emergency services dealt with the scene, diversions were put in place and drivers were urged to find alternative routes.

All lanes were opened at 7.15pm.

Witnesses or anyone with information or dash cam footage of the incident should call police on 101.
