ATTENDEES at a Dodford fitness centre have come up with a way to get some daily exercise and raise funds for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal at the same time.
Personal Trainers at Perpetual Wellbeing, Kidderminster Road, are donating 1p for every burpee a client does during the month-long charity appeal.
The classic burpee is a famously difficult total body exercise, favoured by the armed forces. It involves a squat thrust and a jump at the end.
Perpetual Wellbeing managing director and master personal trainer Petra Boddington said: “We wanted to do something to help raise money for the Poppy Appeal and the burpee challenge seemed ideal.
“All of our clients are taking part, old and young.
“Burpees have been adapted to the client’s ability. Some are working up to do 20 non-stop by the end of the month whilst others are aiming to do 20 in a minute by the end of the month.”
“We want to raise as much money as we can so we have asked clients to match our donations,” Petra added.
Bromsgrove’s RBL chairman Patrick Smith said: “We are very happy to be working in partnership with Perpetual Wellbeing to help raise more money for the Poppy Appeal.”
