Webbs Garden Centre sponsors elephant sculpture ahead of Worcester art trail

WEBBS Garden Centre has sponsored an elephant sculpture which will feature in a Worcester art trail this summer.

It is one of around 65 sculptures which will go on display in the city during the eight-week event.

The sculptures are currently being painted by local artists and will eventually be auctioned to raise funds for St Richard’s Hospice.

Webbs owner Edward Webb, who has centres in Hagley and Wychbold, said: “As a family business all about appreciation of nature and the outdoors, we are really excited to hear about Worcester’s second public art trail encouraging local families to get out and about on foot.

“Having helped people make the most of their homes and gardens in lockdown, we’re proud to be part of an event that will get us all exploring again and it’s for a brilliant cause too.

“We can’t wait to walk the trail and see our elephant in pride of place.”

Business development manager at St Richard’s, Sara Matthews, added: “We’re thrilled to have Webbs on board as a sponsor and it’s wonderful it has struck a chord with the team.

“We know which design Webbs have chosen and, although we can’t say much, it’s going to be a fantastic addition to the herd.”

Worcester’s Big Parade is a Wild in Art event being brought to the city by St Richard’s Hospice.

It is supported by partners Crowngate, Worcester City Council, Worcester Business Improvement District (BID), West Midland Safari Park and BBC Hereford & Worcester.
