Top producer records single with musical talents from Hagley High

A GROUP of musicians from Hagley High School proved dreams can come true when they teamed up with a prolific music producer to record their first single which will raise funds for children’s charity, Winston’s Wish.
The single – a cover version of the Friends theme tune ‘I’ll Be There For You’ – was due to be released on iTunes last Friday (October 15).
All proceeds will go to the charity which supports bereaved children who have lost parents.
Music teacher Fred Mallinson launched the band – called H90 – last September after selecting a range of students to play 90s cover songs.
He told the Standard: “Winston’s Wish is a very special charity and it means a lot to the students and staff at Hagley High.”
Fred said H90 were performing at an end of summer gig when it just so happened Dave ‘Still Records’ Robinson – who has signed artists like the Damned, Elvis Costello and Ian Dury – was sitting in the audience.
H90 – a group of 16 12 to 19-year-olds – were duly surprised when they were invited to take part in a recording session with the acclaimed producer.
An interview filmed with BBC Radio Hereford and Worcester has already received over 32,000 hits on social media.
Fred said: “H90 don’t want their single to go unheard.
“This is the product of many months of hard work, dedication and friendship.
“By giving this song airtime and publicity, they hope to inspire other young musicians to aim beyond the classroom.”
