A GOLDEN couple from Rubery are celebrating 50 years of marriage and have put the secret of their success down to a cup of tea every morning.
Brenda and Graham Moor met in 1961 when they were both working at Munn’s Brothers, a photographic processing and printing company in Ladywood, Birmingham and within six months, they were engaged.
The couple, who are parents to a son and daughter and grandparents to five children, got married at All Saints Church in Brookfields, in 1967.
Brenda, 72, and Graham, 73, both enjoy travelling the country together and have lived in Handsworth, Rednal and Frankley before settling in Rubery.
When asked the secret of their successful marriage Brenda, who worked as a high school lab technician for 20 years, said: “Ever since the day we met he has brought me a cup of tea in bed for 50 years, even when he has not been feeling well.
“We are loving life together, we are in good health so we like to get out and about.
“We are always going somewhere, whether it is London, Liverpool, Telford or Oxford, we just pop on a train.
“My daughter always says ‘mother you’re never in.’.”
The happy couple marked the marriage milestone yesterday (Saturday) with a surprise meal with their family and are holidaying in Italy next year.
Graham, originally from Hull, said: “We get on really well, like most couples we argue but we get through it.
“We have a lovely family and we have always there for eachother, no matter what.”
