TALENTED pupils at Winterfold School are celebrating after scooping a record-breaking ten trophies at the Dudley Festival of Music, Drama and Dance.
They stole the show at the event held over two weekends at Dudley College.
Among the winners were the school’s Chamber Choir and Girls’ Harmony Choir for their ‘excellent choral work’.
Girls’ Harmony Choir in particular impressed the judges by earning 91 marks out of a possible 100 for their renditions of ‘Don’t Sit Under The Apple Tree’ and ‘For Good’ from the musical Wicked.
Olivia Leung won the Helen Bailey Cup for her thought-provoking and well-articulated version of ‘Rondeau’ on the clarinet.
Alex Witt claimed the Solihull School Saxophone Trophy by playing Allegro Appasionato.
Winterfold’s head of music Jerry Price said: “I accompanied the choirs this year and was delighted with their win as I am for all of the winners.
“It was my first time at the festival and I was hugely impressed with the venue, adjudicating and the organisation of the event.
“Thank you for making us so welcome and for really further helping boost music in the School and the confidence of all these wonderful young performers.”
