Swan song as choir’s founder makes moves out of area

Bromsgrove Editorial 5th Aug, 2021   0

THIS summer sees the end of an era for the Primrose Choir when its founder and musical director Kay Hadley leaves to move to a different part of the country.

Kay started the ensemble in April 2000 to raise money for the Primrose Hospice.

Her hard work and sense of fun have given choir members and audiences much pleasure.

From the original 20 members it has grown to as many as 50 over the years.

Those years have seen the choir perform all over the county and beyond.

They have sung at weddings and funerals and private concerts as well as their own public concerts and Primrose Hospice functions.

Kay’s idea was a true inspiration and in the years since it started the Primrose Choir has raised thousands of pounds for the hospice. She saw the work of the hospice as invaluable and for the choir to contribute to this is incredibly rewarding for its members.

In return, Kay’s hard work and enthusiasm have been much appreciated at the hospice.

The Primrose Choir will continue, although the pandemic has put a stop to activities for 18 months.

A new Musical Director, Ruth Henley, is waiting to take up the baton as soon as Covid regulations allow.

Meanwhile it is still available to sing at funerals.

A spokesperson said: “Kay Hadley will be much missed but her amazing idea will live on.”
