YOUNGSTERS from Lickey End First School, Bromsgrove, have been given a swimming lesson by four-time Olympic medalist, Rebecca Adlington, after winning the Big School Swim national campaign, writes Sophie Wheeler.
Launched by Swim England, the campaign joined forces with Adlington’s SwimStars and Everyone Active which runs Bromsgrove Sport and Leisure Centre.
It invited primary schools from across the country to submit an original design for their very own swim hat.
Eight year-old Grace May Roberson won after Adlington hand-picked her entry, presenting the award to her in front of her classmates during a school assembly.
The Olympian also gave a 45-minute lesson to the class.
Rebecca said: “It was so much fun to join Grace and her peers for the swimming lesson in the fantastic pool at Bromsgrove Sport and Leisure Centre.”
Jacqui Tillman, Group Swim Manager at Everyone Active, said: “We hope the children had a great time in the pool.
“Everyone Active is dedicated to providing more opportunities for children to learn this life-saving skill and looks forward to welcoming the school back for its regular swimming lessons.”
