Rubery Social Club installs new disabled toilets thanks to lottery grant

RUBERY Social Club has installed new disabled toilets thanks to a grant from the Big Lottery Fund.

The club, on New Road, received £9,500 in funding for the state-of-the-art toilets, baby changing facilities and is now in the final stages of building a wheelchair ramp into the lounge area.

Last year, the new committee of the club, who formed in 2015, identified the toilet facilities for wheelchair users was inadequate and decided to provide an improved facility for users from the local community.

Alan Cooper, a member of the club’s Finance Committee, said: “The club now has a provision for wheelchair users and mothers and babies that we are all proud of.

“We are grateful for the support of our loyal members and the local building company Dave Webley and Sons.

“Not forgetting the Big Lottery Fund, who without their help they could not have achieved this much needed enhancement.”

By August, the club is hoping to become fully disabled friendly.
