PUPILS from across the county will compete in the annual Worcestershire School Games at Brromsgrove School tomorrow (Monday).

The School Games, funded by Sport England and delivered by the Sports Partnership Herefordshire & Worcestershire (SPHW) and School Games Organisers, is a Government-led programme to provide pupils with the opportunity to compete and achieve personal bests.

The county final is the culmination of weeks of numerous inter-school competitions and will see over 800 young people, aged seven to 16, come together to compete in events including sportshall athletics, dodgeball, netball and quickskicks hockey.

The event also offers inclusive events such as pan disability football and new age kurling.

Young leaders will have the opportunity to try their hand at media reporting as well as officiating and running events.

The event, sponsored by Free Radio and the West Midlands Safari Park, will be compared by Free Radio DriveTime presenter DJ Hursty.

Nicola Anslow, the education manager at the West Midland Safari Park, said: “We are once again delighted to be supporting the School Games in Worcestershire.

“Our half-term February holiday clubs will combine being active alongside exploring the natural world so the School Games is a natural fit for us.”

School Games organiser Tracey Freer said: “We should also like to extend our thanks to Bromsgrove School who offer use of their superb facilities. Their kindness and hospitality is second to none.”
