THE OWNERS of the popular Signpost Cafe in Rubery have been bidding a fond farewell to their customers today.

Emma Forsythe and Annette Taylor opened the doors for the final time this morning and there was a queue of people waiting to wish them well.

The pair admitted after coming back from the fire and the support they had received from the whole community the decision to close was a tough one.

Emma and Annette received plenty of cards and flowers from their regulars who joined them for what was an emotional send off.

Emma told The Standard: “We have the loveliest customers and today was all about saying a big thank you to them for all their support in the last two years.

“I have moved about for the last ten years with my husband Phil but shortly after opening the cafe, we bought a house in Rubery because we love the village so much.

“There’s such a fantastic sense of community here I’ve never felt more at home.”

The Signpost Cafe will close its doors for the final time at 9pm.
