A PLAYWRIGHT who penned well-received play called Fifty Shades of Beige has written the sequel A Darker Shade of Beige.

And, as the film Darker Shades of Grey is being released, tickets for Roger Goddard’s second offering have gone on sale.

Roger’s original piece Fifty Shades of Beige gained plaudits from local audiences when it was staged at the Artrix studio and The Palace Theatre’s Room Upstairs last year.

The same two venues have been chosen for the follow-up which follows the ongoing story of Tom, a patient at the Autumn Leaves Nursing Home and his unrequited passion for fellow patient Norma.

Roger told the Standard: “As with the original play, the sequel is written to bring out the humour, even in unpleasant situations and to show the sense of fun and resilience of our senior citizens.

“This production will definitely make you laugh but don’t forget to bring your tissues.”

Performances will be at 7.45pm from April 6 to 8 at The Palace’s Room Upstairs and at the same time on April 20, 21 and 22 at the Artrix studio.
