Plans for second Aldi in Bromsgrove to go on display on July 9

BROMSGROVE residents can have their say on the proposals for the town’s new Aldi foodstore.

People are being urged to go along to a public exhibition being held by the supermarket giant between 3pm and 7pm on July 9 at Bromsgrove Sporting FC, on Birmingham Road.

It is hoped the event will give residents a chance to share their views on the multi-million-pound development on the one-and-a-half acre site, off the Birmingham Road and Stourbridge Road.

If given the go-ahead the store will create around 40 new jobs in the town. Additional employment would also be created through the building of the store and for supply chain businesses.

The site is currently occupied by the old MG Rover showroom, the former DDS&S Club and the children’s soft play centre Imagination Street.

The plans are still at an early stage but before submitting a planning application Aldi bosses would like to know what residents think.

An Aldi spokesman said: “We are excited about the prospect of a new store for residents in the north of Bromsgrove.

“The proposal would deliver investment and create much-needed jobs for the local area.

“We would like to encourage the local community to find out more about the proposal and discuss it with the project team at our public exhibition.”
