Pair from Bromsgrove Engine Services to feature on More4 tomorrow after answering Car SOS

THE OWNERS of a Bromsgrove motor repairs will be featuring on Car SOS on More 4 tomorrow night (Wednesday).

Greg Healey and Keith Allington from Bromsgrove Engine Services, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, were contacted by the programme-makers and were asked if they could restore the engine of a 1960s Mini Cooper S.

They had rang around to find the perfect people for the job and Greg and Keith had been recommended because they have raced Minis in the past and worked on hundreds of them.

They were more than happy to help and got to work on the engine at their base in Sherwood Road, Aston Fields.

Greg and Keith were able to tell the crew what was wrong and talk them through the process of finding the faults, stripping down the engine and building it back up again.

The star of the show Fuzz Townshend also went down during filming, which took place in March last year, and had a go at some machine work.

Greg told The Standard: “We had never done anything like this before, it was fantastic.

“It was a bit of the ordinary and a lot of fun.”

Greg said the pair had done a lot more work on Minis since the programme was first aired on National Geographic and they have done other work for Car SOS.

And the owner of the now-restored Mini Cooper S has even stayed in touch and gives the pair a call from time to time.

Car SOS is on tomorrow night (Wednesday) at 9pm and the show will also be available at www.channel4.com/4OD – Channel 4’s On Demand service.
