POLICE seized four vehicles yesterday from drivers who did not have insurance policies in place.

Worcestershire Operational Patrol Unit confiscated the cars as part of a week-long campaign to get uninsured drivers off the road.

‘Operation Drive Insured’, developed by MIB (Motor Insurers’ Bureau) and supported by the National Police Chief’s Council (NPCC), saw targeted roads policing activity to detect and seize uninsured vehicles across the region.

Last year over 26,000 people were left injured in collisions caused by uninsured and untraced drivers.

This BMW (pictured) was confiscated at Hopwood Services.

The consequences of being caught without valid insurance can lead to drivers having their vehicle seized and potentially crushed along with a £300 fixed penalty notice and six licence points.

They can also face court and receive a driving ban and an unlimited fine.
