THE CHAIRMAN of Bromsgrove District Council has revealed her chosen charity of the year.
After nominations from residents, Coun Helen Jones chose NewStarts, a re-use social enterprise which helps people during moments of crisis.
Based in Sherwood Road the charity helps people with delivering, collecting, mending and upcycling furniture and goods including duvets, beds, ironing boards and cookers.
NewStarts also offers basic IT training and help with household budgeting.
She said: “I did spend some time at NewStarts and was really moved by the impact they had on the people they help, from offering emergency food parcels to the basics like a bed to families who were in need.
“I hope everyone, from my colleagues in the chamber to the residents I meet as part of my duties, support this charity which makes such a difference to our communities.”
