MARKS & Spencer in Longbridge has launched a quiet hour every Monday morning to support customers with autism and sensory issues.
The store will be dimming its lights, reducing checkout sound and turning off music in a bid to stop shoppers feeling overwhelmed.
Staff will also be on hand to speak to customers about the initiative and offer additional support where required.
The ‘Sensory Shopping Hour’ is set to be a regular fixture in the store, running every Monday between 10 and 11am.
Store manager Russ Tatton said: “We are delighted to be offering a Sensory Shopping Hour in our store.
“It’s really important that we support our local community and make shopping inclusive for all of our customers.
“Our whole team has really got behind the initiative and it’s been wonderful to see our customers embracing the sensory friendly environment.
“We look forward to receiving feedback from our customers to help us shape our sensory-friendly hour moving forwards.”
