MORE THAN 1,000 tickets have already been snapped up by supporters for Bromsgrove Sporting’s FA Vase semi-final against Cleethorpes Town.

At Saturday’s Midland League Division One game against Heath Hayes, the first batch of 1,200 tickets for the first leg against Cleethorpes on Saturday, March 11 flew out the window.

And the next lot of tickets go on sale tonight (7pm) inside the Rouslers Bar for sponsors, season ticket holders and volunteers before the rest go to the general public on Thursday.

With the seated stand completely sold out and limited availability left for the famous Shed End, club chairman Mike Burke was left delighted with the fan response.

“Even though fans were limited to two tickets per person it’s great to see more than a 1,000 tickets sold after the first day,” he said.

“People wanted more than their restricted but we gave them a little slip so we knew who we had sold tickets to on Saturday.

“All the seated tickets sold very quickly and there’s only a few left for the Shed End so I think those will be sold out after going on sale to season ticket holders and sponsors.”

Sporting are still awaiting to here back from the Worcestershire County Council to see if their plans to increase the capacity above 3,000 have been accepted.

But what is more of a concern for Mike is Cleethorpes, who have a ground capacity of 1,200, have only given The Rouslers an allocation of 300 tickets.

“We’d like to hear back from the council soon because once we reach 3,000 we need to know if we have to stop selling or can continue,” he added.

“But the fans are more upset about the 300 allocation from Cleethorpes and that is going to cause problems.

“If you ask a crowd of 450 how many would like to travel up there, about 150 would say yes but because of the buzz around town more people will want to go.

“Fans will want to make a weekend of it but in theory it’s going to have to be the hardcore fans who follow us away from home who get first pick on tickets.”
