Man remanded in custody after court appearance, following armed siege at Northfield's Natwest

A NORTHFIELD man has appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court following an armed siege at the town’s branch of Natwest last Friday (March 17).

David Hempseed, 60, of Merritts Brook Lane, was charged with false imprisonment, possession of an imitation firearm, possession of a knife in a public place and arson with intent to endanger life.

He appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court yesterday (Monday) when the case was committed to Birmingham Crown Court on April 24.

Hempseed was remanded in custody until then.
