A MAN died after he was hit by a car on Tuesday morning.

The incident, involving the man in his 70s and an X-type Jaguar, happened around 6.20am on the A441 Redditch Road, near the Hopwood House pub.

Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor were sent to the scene and when they got there an off-duty nurse was already performing CPR.

The man had sustained serious injuries and nothing could be done to save him.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said the man’s next of kin had been informed.

PC Owen Atwell said investigating officers were trying to establish the circumstances leading up to the incident and urged anyone who witnessed the incident or who had any information to call police on 101.

The man, at the time, was wearing blue jeans with a dark blue fleece and a black beanie hat and was carrying a white Tesco carrier bag.
