Make your favourite toastie recipe for Worcestershire's latest food savvy competition

PEOPLE of Worcestershire are being encouraged to send recipes of their favourite toasties for the chance to win £50 Love2Shop voucher.

As part of the council’s food waste reduction campaign #FoodSavvy, the #TastyToastie competition is looking for the most unusual recipes to use up items at the back of the fridge.

The deadline for the competition is Monday July, 8.

Alex Eastough, last year’s winner from Bromsgrove, came up with the idea of using Alphabet Spaghetti, bacon, mushrooms and cheese in her toastie, all of which are often left in pots in the fridge.

A spokesperson from Worcestershire County Council’s Waste Team said: “20million slices of bread are wasted every day in the UK, so making toastie sandwiches is a great way of using up stale bread and those bits that are often left at the back of the fridge such as cheese, vegetables and ham.

“Pretty much anything and everything can be made into a #TastyToastie so we are hoping our residents will send us unusual ideas to inspire others – the crazier the better.”

People can submit their recipes and photos of their #TastyToastie via [email protected] or by post to Emma Stuart, Waste Prevention Project Manager, Worcestershire County Council, County Hall, Spetchley Road, Worcester WR5 2NP.
