NEWS has come in of the closure of the M42 in Worcestershire southbound between J2 (A441, Redditch) and the M5 interchange due to a traffic collision.
Emergency services have attended, as have Highways England Traffic Officers.
Highways England says traffic should follow one of the below diversions: If wishing to travel M5 southbound, from M42 J2 follow the ‘Hollow Circle’ diversion.
Take the A441 southbound, to the junction with the A448. Take the A448 westbound towards Bromsgrove, then at the junction with the A38 take the A38 southbound, continuing to the M5 J5 junction and joining the M5 southbound.
If wishing to travel M5 northbound, from M42 J2 follow the ‘Solid Diamond’ diversion.
Take the A441 southbound, to the junction with the A448. Take the A448 westbound towards Bromsgrove, then at the junction with the A38 take the A38 northbound, through the M42 J1 junction, continuing to the M5 J4 junction and joining the M5 northbound.
Traffic heading to the North West may wish to consider using the M42 northbound and M6 northbound as an alternative.
