SUPERMARKET Lidl has confirmed it will be coming to the Bromsgrove Retail Park creating 40 new jobs.
IM Properties which is managing the £4million investment scheme announced the news to The Standard yesterday.
The 20,000 sq ft store on the Birmingham Road site, which will open later this year, will include an in-store bakery, customer toilets and longer-style tills.
Lidl UK’s regional head of property Paul Hebblethwaite said the company was delighted to be opening a new store in Bromsgrove.
“It which marks another milestone in our ambitious store expansion programme.
“We’ve seen incredible demand for Lidl stores across the country and look forward to offering our quality products and incredible value to shoppers in and around Bromsgrove.”
IMP’s development manager Richard Sykes, said: “Lidl adds real profile to the site and will be a huge draw for shoppers to the park when it opens.
“We always believed Bromsgrove offered a great opportunity to expand our retail portfolio and we’re delighted to bring this significant economic boost to the town centre.
“Whilst pleasing to be able to announce the arrival of Lidl, we are confident we will be announcing more occupiers in the new year.”
Businesses are being sought for the remaining 30,000 sq ft and it is hoped further high-profile national names will take up the space.
One of the firms linked is M&S which is believed to be interested in bringing one of its Foodhalls to the site.
IM Properties has awarded the contract for the site to Bromsgrove-based Benniman and work is already under way.
