'Bringing the boom back to Bromsgrove' - Labour's parliamentary candidate Neena Gill

LABOUR’S Prospective Parliamentary Candidate (PCC) for Bromsgrove is driving home her party’s plans for change as she envisions a ‘revitalised’ high street and improved connectivity for the town.

Neena Gill represented the West Midlands in European Parliament for 16 years after being elected as the first female Asian MEP. Now she joins the election race in a bid to bring about improvements for Bromsgrove and its residents.

Her main focus is working with local businesses and residents to ‘bring the boom back into Bromsgrove’. Mrs Gill wants a ‘vibrant’ high street which serves as a great place to work, shop, and have fun.

She also wants improved connectivity especially into Birmingham city centre, with plans to restore the much-missed 144 bus service – which is forming a big part of her election campaign.

“Bromsgrove needs connectivity, particularly for people who don’t drive,” she told the Standard.

Mrs Gill also stands very much aligned with Labour’s pledges to reduce crime, tackle the cost-of-living crisis, reduce NHS waiting times, and increase teacher numbers and ‘bobbies on the beat’.

Mrs Gill added: “Crime and anti-social behaviour has a huge impact on people being able to enjoy their neighbourhood. Revitalising the high street relies on people feeling safe.

The former MEP also wants to improve residents’ ability to access police face to face which she believes have been reduced with the combining of the town’s police and fire station.

She also believes in Labour’s plans to create a nationalised energy company to ‘keep a cap’ on bills and make the UK less reliant on energy supply from external sources.

“I’m an experienced politician, I know how to get things done. I know my way around Whitehall and I know the local region.”

“Vote change to get stability in the economy. Having a Labour government and MP in Bromsgrove will be a real catalyst for the town,” she added.
