Kind-hearted Bromsgrove girl Olivia raises funds and awareness of online bullying charity

A KIND-HEARTED Bromsgrove girl has raised £220 for and awareness of the charity Place 2 B which helps young people who fall victim to social media bullying.

Olivia Turbutt, 12, from St John’s Middle School collected the cash by making the school’s badge out of donated 10p pieces, along with the words ‘Place 2 B’ at the bottom.

She was inspired by the tragedy of a family friend who killed himself after being bullied online.

Olivia now wants to raise £1,000 and is hoping other schools across Bromsgrove District and other organisations will get in touch so she can do similar fund-raisers there – making their emblems or logos in 10p pieces which will be collected for the charity.

Olivia’s mum Louise said: “We are so proud of her – she is not usually a confident person so for her to get up in assembly and announce she was doing this was fantastic.

“It is a great thing she has done to raise the funds and awareness of the issue.

“It shows how passionately she feels about it and we are hoping other schools and organisations will get in touch.”

Any other schools can contact Olivia’s mum Louise on 07976 528482.
