NEWLY qualified paramedic Sophie and her fellow Bromsgrove crew mate Paul, backed up by a crew from the Hollymoor hub, helped deliver a baby boy in the early hours of New Year’s Eve.

The pair received the call to Church Hill North, Redditch, at 12.50am and Benjamin arrived at 1.38am, weighed in at 6lb 13oz.

What made it even more special for Sophie was that it was on her own birthday.

After the delivery West Midlands Ambulance Service tweeted this picture with the message: “Congrats to the family and well done Sophie!

“What a way to end 2017!”

Mum Aimee Evans said on Instagram: “Thank you to both crews for the fantastic help with our little boy’s safe arrival.

“Me and baby are both doing fine and were home last night xxx”

Beryl Tye also wrote: “Congratulations to Aimee and Ashley, thank you both for giving me my first great great grandson love to you all and a big kiss for Lola Rose xx”
