IMAGES by Bromsgrove photographer John Caswell and Droitwich snapper Dave Hull will feature in the 2019 Worcestershire Wildlife Trust calendar.

Twelve local photographers were selected winners of Worcestershire Wildlife Trust’s annual photography competition – one for each month.

The contest aims to highlight the beauty of the county’s countryside, with the winning images capturing snowy tree tops, shafts of sunlight and a hare in a summer meadow.

There were 220 entries in total from 44 photographers which were judged by the staff at the Trust, Jason Curtis of Wyre Wildlife and Pete Walkden of Pete Walkden Photography – both wildlife photographers and previous winners of the competition.

John Caswell’s photograph, ‘Fieldfare’, will be featured on the February calendar page.

Mr Caswell said his photograph was down to luck when a solitary fieldfare posed for him, having come down to feed on some apples he had left for a visiting blackbird.

Dave Hull’s ‘Red Fox’ will appear on the August page.

Mr Hull said: “Walking through the wood one evening I noticed some movement and a fox suddenly appeared.

“I lay down and the fox came out of the undergrowth and sat looking directly at me allowing me to take a number of photographs.”

The winners will each receive a copy of the calendar and the overall winner Gill Smith will receive a print of her image donated by London Camera Exchange in Worcester.

The winning pictures will appear as A4 pages, and the 13 runners-up will have their photographs appear as insets.

The calendar costs £7 and all proceedings go to the Trust.

Visit the Trust’s offices or www.worcswildlifetrust.co.uk/shop to buy the calendar.
