HoW College teacher makes strides for mental health by running 10km every day

A HEART of Worcestershire College (HoW) teacher is making strides for mental health by running 10km every day this month.

Callum Clarke, who is raising cash for the Mental Health Foundation, has been putting his legs in ice baths each evening to aid muscle recovery and make sure he reaches the finish line.

He decided to take on the challenge to raise awareness for those suffering with mental health.

Callum admitted he bottled his emotions when he lost his dad five years ago, when instead it would have been better to talk about his loss.

“I would hate for anyone to feel the way I did,” he said.

“Especially at the moment, as many will be suffering as a result of the constant lockdowns.

“I hope I can help people by encouraging them to speak out if they need to.”

The foundation’s mission is to help people understand, protect and sustain their mental health.

To achieve this, the charity runs community and peer programmes, conducts research, engages with the public and advocates for positive mental health.
