A HAGLEY care home has hosted a party to celebrate the 103rd birthday of one of its residents.
Freda Chatfield marked more than a century of life on May 3 at The Gables in Hagley. The party was attended by Freda’s family, fellow residents and care team members.
A lunch was held for close family in the care home’s private dining room following the celebrations. Freda, who has been a resident at The Gables for six months is originally from Gosport near Portsmouth.
She moved to Hagley to be near family in Kinver. Freda has lived through many historic events, including working at the Ministry of Defence Offices (MOD) during the war.
Julie Weaver, general manager, at The Gables said: “It was wonderful for all the residents and care staff to be able to celebrate such an impressive birthday with Freda and her family.
“According to the latest ONS data only 0.02% of the UK population is over 100, so having a resident who is celebrating turning 103 is truly special.”
The home provides care specifically for people living with dementia.
