SHOPPERS and visitors to Bromsgrove town centre got into the spirit of St George’s Day with a whole afternoon of England-themed fun and entertainment on the High Street.

Bromsgrove Town Crier Kevin Ward roused the crowd and there were Austin classic cars, stands from charities and other community organisations, circus skills, balloon-modelling and craft activities from Make Do Creative where youngsters were able to make a dragon mask, knight’s sword and a St George shield.

The Vintage Class Singers, the Artrix Songsters and the All Round Voices choir also took to the stage to delight those who went along.

And there was a photo booth which saw people choose traditional clothes to dress up in and be pictured against a very Bromsgrove backdrop, depicting all its landmark buildings and other icons.

The event was hosted by Bromsgrove District Council in partnership with the Friends of St John’s, Artrix, and Safer Bromsgrove.

Jo Slade, from the Friends of St John’s Church which provided the ‘Selfie Snap Bromsgrove’ photo booth, said: “It’s been very positive.

“Everybody has been having a good laugh with the photo booth which has provided a quirky take on the traditional element to a fun-filled day.”

TC Peppercorn from Make Do Creative added: “Everyone was really enthusiastic and took the chance to celebrate St George’s Day in Bromsgrove High Street.”
