A FORMER Premier League footballer from Bromsgrove will take part in a triathlon to raise funds for town charity Libby Mae’s Little Angels.

Ex-Birmingham City and Hull star Craig Fagan will compete in the event in Southend at the end of May, undertaking a 750metre sea swim, cycling 20km to Foulness and and running 5k around quiet roads in Shoeburyness.

He is hoping to raise £2,000 for the charity which was started by Bromsgrove couple Charlotte and Richard Sharratt in memory of their daughter Libby Mae. Libby was born at Birmingham Women’s Hospital but passed away two weeks later.

Craig said: “As a Bromsgrove lad I have followed this charity from the start.

“I have been inspired by the work of an amazing family who even after losing their daughter have gained the strength to help other sick and premature babies and their families through the neonatal journey.

“The charity has grown and is officially helping save other babies’ lives by buying life-saving equipment and resources for hospitals all over the Midlands.”
