A FUND-RAISING five-a-side football tournament has been hailed a great success after a dozen teams helped raise more than £1,200 for a Bromsgrove nursing home.
Lisa Dews, a member of the HCA team at St John’s Court, came up with the idea and the funding will now go towards helping the home develop our new project of developing our dementia suite to make it a calm and relaxing area for residents.
Lisa recruited Gaz Evans and Christine Taylor who helped organise and fully supported the event.
Everyone who attended the event at South Bromsgrove High School on Saturday (April 22) had a fantastic time.
During the tournament, Lisa and Christine made food and refreshments available, and both sold raffle tickets throughout the day.
Trophies were given out to the winners, and later on, the raffle was drawn at The Golden Lion, which held a barbecue for anyone who was still peckish.
The medals and trophies were supplied by Bromsgrove and Redditch Trophies and the golden boot for the top scorer was donated and engraved by the Bromsgrove Cobbler.
Laura Wilkes, from St John’s Court, said: “There were so many people who gave up their time to make this event the success it was – you know who you are so thank you from us all.”
The event raised a staggering £1275.27, which will help the HCA in developing their new dementia suite project.
