DROITWICH man Dean Hine has organised a truck show to raise funds for the National Autistic Society.
Shed Food and Drink will host the event at Countryside Park, A4025, Crossway Green from 9am on July 9 and 10 and Dean is hoping truck owners from far and wide will come along.
The event will feature incredible displays of trucks of all shapes and sizes, as well as food vans, an outside bar, activities for children, stalls and live entertainment.
‘Forever Elvis’, Carl Fisher’s Tribute to the King, will be live from 2pm on the Saturday.
On the Sunday there will be presentations for a variety of truck categories, including Best Kept Working Vehicle, Best Show Vehicle, Best Fleet, Best Custom Truck, Best Light Commercial, Best Combination, and Best Truck by Make – DAF, IVECO, Mercedes, Renault, Scania and Volvo.
Enthusiast Dean inherited a love of trucks from his father, Derek.
For the past 17 years he has worked in the trucking industry, currently running the haulage side of Blackpole Recycling and working alongside Severn Waste Services.
He said: “Charity fund-raising has been the focus of The Shed Truck Show since the first festival five years ago.
“This year we will be raising money for the National Autistic Society.
“The event has the potential to raise over £4000 for the charity so we are hoping plenty of truck owners will sign up for a pitch.”
The Autistic Society is close to Dean and his wife Sarah’s heart – the charity has supported the family since their son Austin was diagnosed with Classic Autism ten years ago.
Autism is a lifelong developmental disability. One in 100 people are on the autism spectrum, which can affect how they communicate and interact with the world.
The Autistic Society provides support, guidance and advice for autistic people and their families, as well as campaigning for improved rights, services and opportunities to help create a society that works for autistic people.
