THERE will be disruption at Bromsgrove’s Churchfields multi-storey car park for two days this week while work is carried out to improve the security on the main access and automatic doors.
The maintenance will be done tomorrow (Tuesday) and Wednesday, January 17.
The upgrades to the fire doors will improve the automatic door function so that they are more secure.
Contractors will be fitting a new door locking mechanism linked to the fire alarm system which will improve the security of the stairwells as well as the main building.
The works may cause some disruption to car park users during this time, in particular Shopmobility users.
There will be a limited Shopmobility service during these two days with a small number of scooters available on a first come first served basis.
Anyone wishing to use the service during this time should park outside the Shopmobility Office and a staff member will come to them.
Judith Willis, head of community services, said: “We apologise for any disruption caused to car park users during this time and hope to get the works completed as quickly and efficiently as possible.
“We apologise that there will be a reduced Shopmobility service during this time and hope to make this as hassle free as possible for service users.
“The old doors to the car park are in parts badly damaged through wear and tear as well as misuse, so the new doors will improve the safety and security of the car park benefitting all of our users.”
