MORE THAN 800 students from across the county attended a special performance at Artrix which raised awareness of online grooming.
Through a fusion of live performance, music and digital technology, Catfish explored such hard-hitting subjects as child sexual exploitation and cyber bullying.
It was performed by members of Outspoken, Artrix’s resident performance company, with new technology which saw parts of the production played out on the audience’s smartphones.
Hannah Phillips, Artrix’s artistic director and director of Catfish, said: “Catfish explored the important, challenging and sensitive issue of child sexual exploitation.
“We focused on dangers online whilst simultaneously using digital technology to enhance young people’s engagement.
“Although this original piece of work is for young people it is very important that we raise everyone’s awareness of the dangers of child sexual exploitation, particularly parents, carers and anyone who works with this age group.”
