Countdown begins to this year's Northfield Carnival

THE ORGANISERS of this year’s Northfield Carnival are hoping for a bumper again crowd this year with more activities than ever before taking place.

The event will be held in Victoria Common, behind Northfield Shopping Centre, next Saturday, July 1.

It will be officially opened by MP Richard Burden at midday before the Moonlighting Roadshow gets the live entertainment under way.

The Northfield Notes and Shirley Gospel Choirs will perform at 12.10pm before the Elite Academy of Dance and Gymnastics takes to the stage at 12.45pm.




The Rockwood Dog Display Team perform its shows at 1.10pm and 3.30pm and the Skins and Feet African Drumming and Limbo group will be on at 1.50pm.

The Night Cyphers Street Dance Crew will be performing their moves at 2.15pm and 4pm and the Northfield Caledonia and Pipes Band will take to the stage at 2.35pm.


The Sylvia Murphy Academy of Irish Dance, Music and Song is on at 3pm and Birmingham Rock School and Choir will be the last act at 4.20pm before the Moonlighting Roadshow closes the event at 4.50pm.

There will also be a host of charity stalls, raffles, tombolas, children’s rides, inflatables and more.

Tony Maslen, from the Northfield Carnival Committee, said: “This is set to be the biggest one yet, we had 6,000 people attend last year and we are hoping for even more visitors this time around.”
