Community groups in Bromsgrove to benefit from £27k cash boost

Bromsgrove Editorial 28th Apr, 2017   0

A RECENT funding boost from the Co-op has seen £27,000 go to nine Bromsgrove community groups.

When a Co-op member buys any own brand products from stores, or takes out any type of funeral care, they receive a five per cent reward for themselves and a further one per cent is donated to local causes.

Among the causes are Libby Mae’s Little Angels, which helps save babies’ lives across the Midlands by raising funds to support 19 neonatal units.

Among the other nine community groups is North Worcestershire Basement Project, which acts as a drop-in centre for any young people who are homeless or are facing homelessness.

And another great cause benefiting is the Primrose Hospice, which supports patients and families living with a life-limiting illness, across North East Worcestershire.

Chief Membership Office at the Co-op, Rufus Olins, said: “By listening to our members we are able to identify what communities care most about and then offer support that really makes a difference, and by working with and supporting local good causes great things are happening.”

The Co-op has 4.3million active members including 750,000 recruited since the new scheme began on September 21, 2016.
