A HOMELESS charity working across the county has raised its fundraising amount to date after hosting a friendly netball tournament.
Maggs charity, who have day centres in Malvern and Worcester, raised a whopping £1,372.55 in a single day of fundraising during the tournament at MSJ Sports Centre.
Over 200 people took part on Sunday, June 23 with the event also boasting face painting, a raffle stand filled with lots of generous prizes from local businesses and delicious food from Dirty D’s and Calabbria Streetfood.
Melissa Blewitt, marketing and relations manager at Maggs Day Centre said: “On behalf of the team at Maggs, we would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who took part in the tournament on Sunday.
“From umpires to players, the team at MSJ Sports Centre, Dirty D’s Calabbria Streetfood and all of the local businesses who donated towards our raffle prizes.
“The whole day was fantastic, with lots of players expressing how much of a great day they had.”
Prizes were kindly donated from businesses such as West Midlands Safari Park, Worcester County Cricket Club, Malvern Senerity, Mac & Jacs, Malvern Theatre, and many more.
The winner on the day was Amazons for the female netball and Springballs for the mixed team who are a part of the netball club Malvern Springs.
“The money raised will be going towards Maggs to help us continue our services, whether this be to continue food and support for our service users in our day centres or our countywide outreach teams”, added Melissa.
Maggs works throughout Worcestershire and hosts two-day centres in Worcester and Malvern alongside four properties through the accommodation project, which temporarily houses rough sleepers and provides them with tailored support to further their journey.
