Cat recovering at Frankley's RSPCA animal centre after she was thrown 100ft off a Birmingham tower block

A CAT which is lucky to be alive is recovering at Frankley Animal Centre after she was reportedly thrown 100ft from a Birmingham tower block.

The RSPCA is appealing for witnesses after the CCTV controllers reported they had seen the cat fall from the block of flats in Guild Close on April 6 and had gone outside to find her lying injured on the ground.

They were even more concerned as they thought they had seen a person throw the cat but the footage was not clear enough to be sure.

An RSPCA officer arrived to help the poorly puss and transported her straight to RSPCA Newbrook Farm Animal Hospital where she was treated for a broken jaw.

RSPCA inspector Mike Scargill, who is investigating, is now keen to find the owner of the cat, and to learn more about how she came to fall from such a height.

“This is a very worrying incident and the cat is extremely lucky to be alive.

“At the moment we’ve got very little information so the details of exactly what happened are open to speculation for now, but I have visited the block of flats and made initial inquiries but no information has been forthcoming just yet.

“I am appealing to the general public for any information that might help me investigate what happened.

“The cat may have slipped and fallen on her own, but it’s very concerning to hear the CCTV controllers think they may have seen someone actually throw the cat from the building, so I’m very keen to speak with anyone with information who might be able to tell us more.

“I am also keen to find the person who owns this cat.

“She’s a young white female, with white patches of tabby markings on her tail, back and head.

“She’s really been through it and suffering a broken jaw would have been incredibly painful for her, so I’m sure being reunited with her owners will give her a much-needed boost.”

Anyone with any information can contact Inspector Scargill anonymously on 0300 123 8018.
