Cash boost to prevent Bromsgrove children from going hungry over Easter holidays

Bromsgrove Editorial 9th Apr, 2021   0

A FURTHER £558,760 has been made available to help prevent Worcestershire children going hungry over the Easter holiday.

The cash injection is part of the Covid Winter Grant Scheme which was introduced last year to help low-income families.

Councils in England were awarded £170million in ring-fenced funding, with Worcestershire County Council receiving £1,607,260 of that total.

But the authority’s total amount has been boosted to £2,166,020 and the scheme has been extended until Friday, April 16.

This extra funding aims to prevent children from going hungry over the Easter holiday by ensuring local families get the help they need.

The Government’s Holiday Activities and Food Programme, which helps with childcare provision, has also been extended.
