BROMSGROVE’S popular Avoncroft Museum has launched an appeal to find more volunteers to bring history to life in its historic buildings.
Local history enthusiasts who have some time to spare are being invited to get hands-on and put themselves forward for a variety of roles.
The museum already has a strong team of volunteers but it is looking to bolster its ranks.
Among the posts will be helping demonstrate how the iconic windmill and the telephones at the National Telephone Kiosk Collection work.
People can become costumed guides in the Victorian Toll House, 1940’s Prefab and Mid-15th-century Town House.
And there are also vital roles behind the scenes, such as maintaining the gardens and grounds.
Julia Morris, Avoncroft’s volunteer co-ordinator, said volunteers were a vital part of the Avoncroft team with many volunteers saying their enthusiasm brings the collection to life and makes their experience so enjoyable.
“Our volunteers get involved because they are passionate about Avoncroft, and they are keen to share that with others.”
She added many were motivated by meeting like-minded people, sharing skills and developing new ones, getting hands-on with the historic buildings and equipment and supporting the heritage.
Anyone with an interest in history, enthusiasm and a few hours to spare especially at the weekend should email Julia Morris at [email protected] or call her on 01527 831363.
