STAFF at Bromsgrove District Council fell silent at 11am this morning to remember all those who lost their lives in the Grenfell Tower fire in London.

The employees at Bromsgrove joined thousands of others up and down the country in memory of the 58 people who have been confirmed dead after the blaze in the 23-storey block last Wednesday.

A total of 79 people have either been confirmed dead or missing and 18 people remain in hospital, nine of those in a critical condition.

Bromsgrove District Council Chairman, Coun Helen Jones, said: “The fire in London was a terrible tragedy and our thoughts are with those affected and their families.”

Coun Rita Dent added: “It was good this morning for us to come together as a community in memory of those who lost their lives.”
