CARE HOMES across Bromsgrove will be opening their doors tomorrow as part of a national campaign.
The National Care Home Open Day is aimed at forging links between homes and their communities.
As it coincides with HM The Queen’s 92nd birthday many have taken on a royal theme.
Residents at Chandler Court, Recreation Road, have been making crowns and tomorrow, from 10am to 4pm, there will be a visit from two beautiful therapy ponies which will perform a display fit for the Queen.
There will also be a barbecue and children from Redditch Basketball Club will showcase their skills.
Two interactive sports sessions, weightlifting and ‘Guess the Cake’ will also take place, along with live music from the JDR Trio, concluding with a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’.
At Breme Care Home, staff and residents will be dressing in all their finery, including handmade crowns.
Residents are invited to the home on Providence Road between 11am and 12pm or from 2pm to 4pm.
St John’s Court, at its event from 10am to 4pm, will be offering morning coffee and afternoon tea as National Tea Day is also on April 21.
There will be a variety of teas on offer.
Heathbrook House on Worcester Road, Stoke Heath, will have an Animal Antics afternoon with various animals visiting, from Minty the lamb, Star the Samoyed puppy and a Shetland pony to a bearded dragon, guinea pigs and rabbits from 2pm to 4pm today
Then between 12pm and 6pm tomorrow there will be a Royal Celebration of Queen Elizabeth’s 92nd Birthday with a Royal High Tea, photographs with the birthday girl herself (cardboard cut-out) and a spread of sandwiches, cakes with Prosecco and strawberries.
