THE LIST of finalists for the Worcester Apprentice Awards 2017 has been announced, which includes both businesses and employees from Bromsgrove and Droitwich.

Businesses and guests will attend the awards ceremony which is set to take place at 6.30 pm on Thursday November 16 at Tree Tops Pavilion, West Midlands Safari Park, where the winners of each category will be announced.

After all ten categories received a very high number of nominations, the judges finally chose their 30 nominations, taking the number of entries for the awards to new levels.

Droitwich Spa High School are vying for victory in the school of the year category, coming up against Pershore High School and Worcester Sixth Form College.

GT Access Ltd from Bromsgrove are hoping to become the medium apprenticeship employer of the year and will face off against CP Foods UK Ltd from Kidderminster and Heller Machine Tools from Redditch.

Meanwhile, Sam Batkin from Ormerod Rutter, Droitwich, is looking to be crowned the apprentice ambassador of the year.

The winners of each category will then be entered into either the Worcestershire apprentice of the year or the Worcestershire apprenticeship employer competitions.

Gary Woodman, chief executive of Worcestershire local enterprise partnership, said: “To reach the finals of the awards highlights the outstanding ability of our local apprentices, employers, schools and training providers.”

Councillor Marcus Hart, cabinet member for education and skills at Worcestershire county council echoed Gary Woodman’s thoughts by congratulating all the finalists and recognising the value of apprenticeships for all of those involved.

The two final competitions will be sponsored by Yamazaki Mazak UK and local business Worcester Bosch Group.

Tickets for the event are currently on sale, with seats costing £85 and tables of ten costing £800
