THE director of Public Health in Worcestershire has urged people to ‘stay safe’ when meeting others outdoors for a catch-up.
Today marks the first time in months that people are allowed to meet outside – including in private gardens – in groups of up to six people or as two households.
The stay at home rule also comes to an end, although anyone who can work from home is still urged to do so.
Director of Public Health, Dr Kathryn Cobain, said: “From today we can begin to reunite with family and friends.
“I know how much we have all missed seeing our loved ones during the last year, and how much we are all missing the day to day life we would usually be leading.
“I know this is a huge milestone for us all but it is really important we do all we can do to stay safe whilst we are seeing and catching up with others.”
Dr Cobain added that Worcestershire’s vaccine programme is ‘progressing well’, and uptake remains high.
“I would encourage all those eligible to take up the offer of a vaccine when it is offered to you.
“These rule changes are a step in the right direction, brighter times are ahead.”
