AS EVERYONE gears up to enjoy their festive breaks, National Trust are encouraging residents in Worcestershire to enjoy the walking trails on their doorstep this winter.
National Trust says ‘winter is the best time to notice nature and wildlife’, which is why they have released a list of the best walking trails in the region to experience.
First up is Clent Hills, referred to as a ‘countryside haven’ in the heart of the Midlands, which features miles of footpaths, far-reaching views and scenic monuments to explore.
A popular route in the area is the Clent Hills short walk. This trail takes you to the top of Clent Hill, where the mysterious Four Stones can be found, and on a clear day, visitors can catch a glimpse of the Welsh Black Mountains.
Dogs on leads are welcome along the walk.
Next up on National Trust’s recommended winter walking trails is at Croome. There are acres of parkland to explore alongside the Temples and Follies at the heart of the ‘Capability’ Brown landscape.
There is the four mile Conservation Walk which takes a scenic tour of the parkland, with stops to enjoy the historic monuments.
Dogs are also welcome on leads in the parkland. Mobility scooters and wheelchairs are available for loan.
Last up is Hanbury Hall’s historic parkland which features routes through the remains of an ancient forest, early eighteenth century design features including the Semi-Circle, Long Walk and Lime Tree Walk.
