Appeal for vaccinators across Worcestershire as booster drive is stepped up to new levels

HEALTH and care leaders across Herefordshire and Worcestershire are calling on vaccinators to step up and support the acceleration of the Covid-19 vaccination programme.

The NHS is now working to expand the booster programme to offer protection to as many people as quickly as possible.

They are working to increase capacity, offer extended opening hours, stand up more vaccination centres and support more GPs and community pharmacies to be able to offer lifesaving jabs across our two counties.

Any registered (or recently retired) vaccinators looking for full-time or part-time roles on a permanent or ad-hoc basis are asked to get in touch the COVID-19 vaccination recruitment team at [email protected].

Dr Ian Tait, GP and Clinical Chair for NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire CCG said: “I would encourage any vaccinators in our two counties to reach out to our recruitment team. Any support for our local NHS this winter will always be greatly received.”

The NHS vaccination programme will offer every adult in Herefordshire and Worcestershire the chance to book a COVID-19 booster vaccine by the end of the year in a race to protect the local population against Covid-19.

In a speech in the House of Commons on Monday, Health Secretary and Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid said ‘everyone in the UK had to play their part in stopping infection from the Omicron variant’ as he urged people to get boosted.

Mr Javid’s comments came during a statement to the House of Commons amidst confirmation of the first UK death from the new strain.

He labelled the Government offering the boosters and people taking them up was a ‘collective national mission’

He said people who had not had their booster needed to find their local walk-in vaccination centre or book an appointment on the NHS booking system.

He added those who had not had any vaccination should ‘think again and book’.
