With its history dating back to 1718, Worcester is one of the oldest racecourses in all of Worcestershire. Situated between River Severn and Worcester Bridge, 13 furlong track has been used for thoroughbred horse racing for over 150 years handling 20 National Hunt meetings from May to October.

2. Chaddesley Corbett Racecourse

Next up, we have Chaddesley Corbett Racecourse. Situated in Chaddesley Corbett, it’s a point-to-point horse racing course built in 1925.

Situated on a muddy hill, the racecourse holds 5 fixtures each year. Other than racing, the venue offers beautiful picnic spots, stunning countryside scenery, and affordable dining options.

 

3. Uttoxeter Racecourse

3rd on the list is Uttoxeter Racecourse, located in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire. Built in 1907, it’s a 2.5-furlong oval track hosting 25 fixtures throughout the year from January all the way to December.

4. Wolverhampton Racecourse

Hosting over 80 races throughout the year, Wolverhampton Racecourse is by far the busiest of all courses in our list.

With its history dating back to at least 1825, it’s also one of the oldest racecourses in Great Britain.

5. Stratford On Avon Racecourse

Hosting its first race in 1718, Stratford On Avon Racecourse is another one of Britain’s oldest horse racing tracks.

Simply known as Stratford Racecourse, it hosts National Hunt and thoroughbred races covering 17 fixtures each year. Known for its beautiful lush green scenery, wide camping sites, and open RV parking space, Stratford On Avon Racecourse is one of the best racecourses in Worcestershire.

 

6. Warwick Racecourse

On the sixth spot, we have Warwick Racecourse. It’s another one of the courses dedicated to National Hunt meetings, hosting 25 fixtures each year.

Built in 1707, it’s known as the oldest racecourse in all of Britain. With a capacity to hold 18,000 spectators, it’s also one of the largest courses open to the public. Situated right in the heart of Warwick, next to Warwick Castle, Warwick Racecourse is truly a stunning venue both for horse racing and a family’s day out.

 

7. Hereford Racecourse

For the 7th spot, we are heading to Hereford. Apart from being the agricultural hub for British farmers, the rural county is also a breeding ground for thoroughbred horse racing, with Hereford Racecourse being the center stage for National Hunt racing.

Opened in 1717, it’s a 1.5 furlong circuit hosting 11 fixtures each year from October to December. The beautiful, lush green also hosts many additional events, such as fireworks, weddings, music, and food festivals.

 

8. Nottingham Racecourse

Nottingham Racecourse holds the 8th position on our list. Opened for the public in the mid 19th century, the Racecourse hosts 23 races throughout the year. 9. Cheltenham Racecourse

On the second last spot, we have the legendary Cheltenham Racecourse. Hosting over 16 races each year, the racecourse is known for its beautiful, scenic visuals.

The course is situated alongside the majestic Cotswold Hills and Cleeve Hills, making it a natural amphitheater. With a capacity to host approximately 67,000 spectators, Cheltenham Racecourse is Britain’s largest horse racing venue.

 

10. Leicester Racecourse

Last but absolutely not the least is Leicester Racecourse. As per the records, the course hosted its first race in 1603, making it the oldest racecourse in the UK that is still open to the public. Hosting over 23 fixtures each year, Leicester Racecourse is a stunning thoroughbred racing venue.

Over the years, it has hosted some of the most valuable races in the history of Great Britain, such as the Prince of Wales Stakes and Portland Stakes.
